In some parts of the soundtrack for The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth and its DLCs, some kind of "screeching" instrument is used, e.g. at the beginning of Chorus Mortus. I've never heard this anywhere else before. How might this have been produced?

  • Sounds very much like a song played a very high rate of speed: like when rewinding or cueing a cassette tape with the head still in position. – Yorik Feb 12 at 20:18
  • Why do you think it's not simply a synthesized sound? I doubt any part of that song was made on an physical musical instrument anyway. – Federico klez Culloca Feb 14 at 9:03

@FedericoklezCulloca the people responsible for the Isaac soundtrack (Ridiculon) are known for using a wide variety of actual instruments and analog sound-making devices. – Yorik Feb 25 at 17:55
  • @Yorik thanks, good to know. – Federico klez Culloca Feb 25 at 18:49
