While I was playing a video game, I realized there was an npc near a piano with 2 looped piano musics, and a piano sheet.

The piano sheet was blurry, but "Für Elise" was recognizable, even though it wasn't among the 2 looped piano musics.

I was able to recognize one music (Arabesque from Debussy), but I couldn't recognize the other one. I recorded the entire music in the game, though the sound is low (the file weights 3,02 Mb): https://www.aht.li/3526798/Some_song_in_Payday_2.mp3

I tried speed-listening through a few hundred of classical musics (including Debussy, Chopin, Mozart, Beethoven, though not the entirety of their works) but so far I wasn't able to find it yet.

Does anyone have any idea which music it is?

This is Mendelssohn, Lieder ohne Worte, op. 53 no. 2 (a.k.a. "Song without Words" #20), compare youtube.

  • Yup, that's the one. No wonder I wasn't able to find it, I never heard it before. Strange that I would find it familiar. May I ask you how you were able to recognise it?

I'd like to say it's my vast knowledge of the piano repertoire. However, the real answer is musipedia.org. It provided the answer, which I double-checked against the score. Thanks to guidot for adding the youtube link.
