I want to know of a song that has lyrics about how they regret following the crowd, and they regret doing what the other around him were doing. Also it should have no curse words, or no sexual language. I spent a lot of time looking for a song that fit this description, but I couldn’t find any. Can you please find a few songs that match my description?

  • I edited a few more into my answer, below. What are you looking for this for? It might help me narrow down my suggestions. Dec 15 '20 at 21:49
  • I'm looking for songs that regret following the crowd. For example, a scenario could be that there is a bully bullying someone, and there is a bystander who doesn't do anything because no one else is doing anything. Then later he regrets doing nothing. I want a song like that.

  • I get that, I was just wondering what you were going to do with the song once you find it. Obviously you don't have to share that, it just might impact which songs are a good fit. // FWIW out of my list, the two Pete Seegar songs are probably the closest match to what you describe above. //There's also 4 Seasons "Rag Doll" and Janis Ian "Society's Child" about narrators who let social pressures break up their relationships. Pete Seegar - Big Muddy

Well, I'm not going to point any moral,
I'll leave that for yourself
Maybe you're still walking, you're still talking
You'd like to keep your health.
But every time I read the papers
That old feeling comes on;
We're, waist deep in the Big Muddy
And the big fool says to push on.

Pete Seegar - All My Children of the Sun

The navigator said he thought there was
A town somewhere downstream
So now each man tried his best
To paddle as a team
All except one young guy
Who kept arguing with the navigator
He said he'd read about a waterfall
We would come to sooner or later

XTC - One of the Millions

And everytime I get the urge,
To strike out on my own,
Insecurity wraps me up,
It's cold outside the fold.
So I won't rock the boat,
Cause I'm scared what might happen.

Bob Dylan - Like a Rolling Stone

Ahh princess on a steeple and all the pretty people
They're all drinking, thinking that they've got it made
Exchanging all precious gifts
But you better take your diamond ring, you better pawn it babe

Shangri-Las - Out in the Streets

He don't hang around with the gang no more
He don't do the wild things that he did before
He used to act bad, used to, but he quit it
It make me so sad 'cause I know that he did it for me

Paul Revere & The Raiders - Kicks

Kicks just keep gettin' harder to find
And all your kicks ain't bringin' you peace of mind
Before you find out it's too late, girl
You better get straight
No, but not with kicks

Malvina Reynolds - Little Boxes

And the people in the houses
All went to the university
Where they were put in boxes
And they came out all the same
And there's doctors and lawyers
And business executives
And they're all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same

The Who - The Kids are All Right

Sometimes, I feel I gotta get away
Bells chime, I know I gotta get away
And I know if I don't, I'll go out of my mind
Better leave her behind with the kids, they're alright

Tom Waits - Fannin Street

When I was young I thought only of getting out
I said goodbye to my street, goodbye to my house
Give a man gin, give a man cards, give an inch he takes a yard
And I rue the day that I stepped off this train
Don't go down to Fannin Street

Animals - House of the Rising Sun

There is a house in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun
And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God, I know I'm one
