I have an mp3 album in my PC by a band lead by Woody Shaw; the folder is just named 'Basel' and the track list is as follows:

  1. Invitation
  2. Seventh avenue
  3. In your own sweet way
  4. Stepping stones
  5. Love dance
  6. Round midnight
  7. Teotihuacan
  8. Theme for Maxime
  9. But not for me (incomplete)

Does anyone have any information about this album? When it was recorded, with what personnel, etc... I've broken my brain searching for it but there are no conclusive results so far. I'm not quite sure of how I got it, but now I'd like to know what concert it is. Thanks in advance!

This set was recorded on January 16th, 1980 in Basel, Switzerland.

The quintet was composed of :

  • Woody Shaw (tr)
  • Carter Jefferson (ss,ts)
  • Larry Willis (p)
  • Stafford James (b)
  • Victor Lewis (dr)
  • Any sources on that? Thank you! – Óscar Guajardo May 16 '16 at 20:26
  • 1. Enciclopedia del Jazz - About 90% of the way down the page, or just search the page for "Basel 1980". 2. SugarMegs - Streaming collection of collected music, not a great source, but independant confirmation. – Xestrix May 17 '16 at 2:58
  • Thank you Xestrix, you are a gentleman and a scholar! Cheers! – Óscar Guajardo May 17 '16 at 17:31
