This is a song I heard a few years ago. It was a long complex acapella song. If I remember correctly, it was wordless. It reminded me strongly of a Frank Zappa song because of its "obnoxious" attitude, it seemed like it might have been created on purpose to annoy people. If I had to guess, I'd think it might have been released in the early 2000's.

I got the feeling it was probably something a well-known band did as a lark, and I think it might have been live. It was definitely multiple voices (or multi-tracked, if it wasn't done live). As far as I remember it was wordless, like scat but in a pop/rock style (definitely not jazz).

  • This question brings to mind the Beatles' "Revolution 9", though I highly doubt that's the song you're looking for since it's not entirely instrumental and it's obviously not from the early 2000s. Jul 5 '16 at 14:36

Definitely not "Revolution 9" but perhaps the same "not here to be liked" attitude. Jul 5 '16 at 14:40

Can you give a bit more detail about the type of phonemes used in the song? just la-la-la, meaningless, but complex, words and phrases, or what? And what type of voices (one or multiple), harmonies, etc.? Jul 5 '16 at 17:33
  • I edited the question to add these details. Jul 5 '16 at 18:22

When you say "obnoxious", do you mean out of tune style, or repeating over and over to be anoying?
