I've got a song stuck in my head and before contaminating you with the nonsensical associations I have with it, I'll write down the likewise nonsensical text. Imagine it's sung by a group of men with low voices.

Hub, hub, hub.
Ha-ba-da hub, hub, hub.
Hub hub, hub hub.
Hub, hub.
Ha-ba-da hub, hub, hub.
Hub hub, hub hub.
Hub, hub.
(repeat from line 2)

I believe it's a modern song, very possibly from the last years. I'm not sure of any instruments playing. Probably there are, and maybe there's the sound of sprigs? This is where associative speculation takes over, I'm afraid. I have an association with jumping/hopping and the singing voices remind me of dwarfs. Maybe it's from a cartoon. Maybe it's just a fun song.

The pitch of the first three lines would look something like this:

(line 1)
Hub Hub

    Hub

(line 2)
         Hub Hub
      Da
   Ba
Ha Hub

(line 3)
Hub Hub

        Hub Hub

Thanks for reading up to here. I'd be very grateful for any help. :)

  • If I'm interpreting your --very creative --notation correctly, that's an extremely common bassline, most associated with polka music. Imagine it on a tuba: Oomp - pa, oomp - pa, oomp - pa, um-ba-da (except your version doesn't include the "pas") – Chris Sunami May 22 '17 at 19:45
  • What is the pitch and pace of the last two hubs? The first two lines are pretty common, so the last two might be the key if this is at all soluble. – Chris Sunami May 23 '17 at 15:04

I found this acapella polka. It's not an exact match, but the bassline is very similar:

Loituma - Eve's Polka

  • I must say that the bass line indeed feels very similar. It's a different song. The song I'm thinking of didn't have the (female) vocals as far as I recall. I can't remember anything but the bass from my song (if it had anything else). Thanks for your suggestion. – Mr.H Oct 22 '17 at 10:31

A long shot, and I dare say it isn't this, but could it be (accapella version of) the Frog chorus from Paul McCartney's We all stand together ?

  • Hi! Thanks so much for reviving my question. I'm afraid your suggestion isn't the one, but I like it nonetheless. – Mr.H Oct 22 '17 at 10:28
  • Well, I kind of expected you to say that, but I feel that whatever the song, there's a connection to a cartoon or animated film or something, so I put that answer out there to see if it made any other detail come to mind. – Angst Oct 22 '17 at 10:58
