Could you please help me to identify a piano sonata? If it helps, I remember playing it in my second year of piano classes.

I tried sound search with shazam, sound hound and midomi, to no avail.

This is a recording of the first cadenza of the sonata.

  • Results of a Musipedia keyboard search (URL below) claim that this melody is from Beethoven's Symphony No. 1 in C, 1st movement, 2nd theme, but I'm listening now and haven't spotted it yet. musipedia.org/… – mlibby Apr 2 '18 at 17:32
  • Try finding piano pieces that are explicitly in C major. Your passage is in C major, after all. It definitely sounds like classical music to me (I suspect it's from before the Romantic era, too). – Dekkadeci Apr 2 '18 at 23:32
  • Don't know it, but I'd be looking through Mozart sonatas. That Alberti bass is pretty characteristic. – BobRodes Apr 3 '18 at 6:13
  • I'm with @Bob on this one, it sounds like the start of one of Mozart's sonata's in C major. He wrote a lot of sonata's, but only a small part of them are in C. – Mast Apr 3 '18 at 14:40
