There's a cartoon by LutheranSatire on YouTube. The song in the cartoon is composed, written and performed by the cartoon author himself. Two versions of the same song:

The question is what was the "real world" prototype for that song and music? The artist or a particular song?

It sounds so familiar. The tone of voice, the chords progression and harmony. I'm sure there's an actual artist performing in that style. Just can't figure out who that is.

I've tried searching by sound sample on the net, and nothing came up.

@AlvaroFuentes, thanks for the suggestion, it actually sounds close. The harmony is a bit different though. I've also contacted author directly and all he said is that his song is "Just a general style parody of late 60s cheesy folk pop hippie music". Perhaps indeed there's no definite answer. However I'll continue to research and find similar sounding songs and authors for some time. And maybe someone could suggest anything else meanwhile. – Oleg Oct 17 '18 at 9:10

@Oleg Surely there's no more definitive answer than from the author of the song? I guess you could turn your previous comment into an answer. – Brahadeesh Feb 14 at 20:00
