Lyrics: "Everybody look and see everybody run, everybody look and see Johnny's (or Tommy's) got a gun"

More partial lyrics from my memories: Little Johnny's (or Tommy's) hand slipped down into his something pocket something something something something he began to shoot it.

Link to youtube of me singing a part of the chorus as I remember it.

I used to listen to it on vinyl, but I can't remember if it was a mixed artist record or not.

I'm fairly certain it was a female singing.

I think the song was from the 60's/70's, around at the same time as Chris Andrews song Pretty Belinda.

I'm sorry it's not much to go on. I will add more if I remember something.

  • Hi and welcome. Please ad more details about the music itself. Here is a list of relevant details that you should specify. – Bebs Nov 19 '18 at 7:54

What is the genre of the song? Rock, psyche, prog? You had the vinyl so maybe you remember the cover? – Bebs Nov 19 '18 at 8:59
  • I would have to say it was pop. Is there a way I can add a recording of me singing/humming what I know? – Cherie Nov 19 '18 at 9:25

You can upload your humming to YouTube or Soundcloud and add a link here. Can you be more specific about the date? It can be hard to judge the time period of one song from another. Was it male or female vocals? – Chris Sunami supports Monica Nov 19 '18 at 16:27

Two songs come immediately to mind, but neither is an exact match, and both are too recent for the specified time-frame.

Julie Brown's "The Homecoming Queen's Got a Gun" does feature a character named "Johnny", although he does not have the gun.

Aerosmith's "Janie's Got a Gun" could be mistaken for "Johnny's got a gun".

Hi Chris. Unfortunately it's not one of those songs, but thank you for trying to solve the mystery for me – Cherie Nov 20 '18 at 8:00
