Please help me identify this song. I remember it being a standout on the album; the other songs may have been more singer-songwriter, whereas this had a distinct bass drum / cabaret rhythm and feeling. Lyrics which I can recall involve: - the moon - things going bump in the night - a darkened room. The singer had a jazzy voice and tone. This would certainly be the 00s and most likely the later 00s. I listened to it in 2008. The only other detail I remember about the artist is that she did a promo for an album or concert which was shot in sepia and in which she was playing a parade bass and wearing vaguely “gypsy” fancydress.

After years of tying to find this song, the name of the album and artist appeared in my head three minutes after posting this question: All Night is the song, Sam Phillips is the artist, and “A Boot and a Shoe” is the title of the album. – Liz California Apr 27 at 7:15

"After years of trying to find this song, the name of the album and artist appeared in my head three minutes after posting this question:"

"All Night" is the song
Sam Phillips is the artist
A Boot and a Shoe is the title of the album."

-As per the original poster.

You came up behind me, grabbed my wrists in the dark
And said 'don't look at what you can't see'
Now all night
All night
I've been looking for you all night
