Who played lead guitar on River in the Rain by Roger Miller?

If it's not Merle Haggard, or Merle Haggard's lead guitarist, it's someone who has embodied that style and reflects it perfectly.

  • @Bebs: I still think it's either Merle or a member of his band; or, like I sound, somebody was VERY good at imitating that style and phrasing and tone. Sep 18, 2019 at 11:33
  • @Bebs: Thanks for the research; I'm not sure of the cat's name, but the one who is most prominent in Merle's band. If it's not Merle or one of the Strangers, it's someone who deliberately copied their style. Oct 8, 2019 at 12:12

For Roger Miller's Roger Miller album, that features the opening song River in the Rain, Discog credits:

Electric Guitar – Larry Byrom, Reggie Young

I would bet on Reggie Young since he's more reputed as a studio lead guitarist and has played with Merle Haggard for several albums, so your intuition was right.
