Back in 2009 I came across a rendition of Amazing Grace sung by a gospel-choir-like group.

The second verse is sung a cappella by the bass in the group.

In the line

"How precious did that grace appear"

he drops an octave and sings really, really low.

I lost my mp3 copy of the song when a hard drive crashed in 2010 and I have been unable to find it ever since.

After some more digging I found this video. I'm pretty sure this is the person (Wes McKinzie) that sang verse 2 and it might even be the same group as well. The mp3 I had was a studio recording though (if I remember correctly).

  • If you have bought that mp3 online, you should be able to download it again.

Unfortunately for your search, this is one of the most recorded and performed songs of all times, so finding a particular rendition can be a needle in a haystack. Can you give any more details about the group, where you first heard it, how you obtained your mp3, etcetera? Nov 11, 2019 at 14:07
  • @dfhwze, imagine paying for an mp3 back in 2009 ... good one. ;-) Nov 12, 2019 at 2:01
  • @ChrisSunami, but my needle sings very low. Unfortunately I've put everything I remember into the question. Nov 12, 2019 at 2:31

Track 5 on Acappella Southern. From the album description:

We then topped it all off with a brand new recording of “Amazing Grace” that will have you smiling all day.

Here is the Deezer link to the song.
